How do you install or setup the e-CUBE?

You don't. Our trained installation team moves on site, evaluates your network, makes any configuration changes that are needed to integrate the e-CUBE, and then using information supplied by your office administrator, they will configure the backup options, including exactly which files and folders need to be part of the daily, automated backup procedures. No matter how much other systems may tout the fact that "anyone can set it up with just one or two mouse clicks", this is never the case.  Correctly configuring a backup system can be complicated, time-consuming, and needs to be thoroughly tested  …Top

How much does it cost?

Pricing is dependent on the size and complexity of your network, and for that reason, we encourage you to click on the ENQUIRIES menu button to submit a request for more details. Basically, there is an initial charge for the e-CUBE unit, the installation and the training. Thereafter, there is an optional monthly service charge depending on the service plan selected. The full service option costs you approximately $2.00 per day.  …Top

What about updates?

We occasionally update our client and server software to better serve our customers. All updates are installed automatically without the need for intervention by the end-user. The price of the updates is already included in the low monthly service fee.  …Top

Do you offer on-site service?

Yes we do, again depending on the service plan selected, you will either pay a standard charge for each service visit or pay a monthly charge for up to 2 onsite visits each month and unlimited telephone support.  …Top

What if we already have a tape backup system?

Tape backup has many limitations - not the least of which is the difficulty of restoring and retrieving individual files when this becomes necessary. Tapes are also notoriously unreliable, and the ongoing cost of replacing tapes and/or tape drives can be very high. We suggest that you adopt the e-CUBE as your major backup system as it is vastly superior to any existing tape backup system. The e-CUBE provide a quick and easy way to retrieve critical files and databases without the hassle of searching through tapes.  …Top

How long will a remote backup take?

Offices with high-speed internet connections should find this service comparable with tape drives. The initial backup can take a long time to complete but thereafter, only CHANGED files are uploaded (called incremental backups). If the size of the backup is large, then the initial backup can be run over the weekend. Thereafter, incremental backups take virtually no time at all.  …Top

Onsite, Offsite - What's The Difference?

Basically, remote backups work like regular tape backups, with one important difference. Instead of sending backups to a tape drive or other media attached to the computer being backed up, a remote backup sends encrypted file data over the internet to a computer file storage system safely off-site. This usually happens at night while your business is closed and nobody is using the computers. It's completely automatic. In fact, you may forget it's working every night except for the fact that the e-CUBE sends you an email to tell you about the successful backup - the names of the files, the size of the upload, the time it started and finished. In fact, more than you probably want to know.  …Top

Why Are Remote Backups Considered More Beneficial?

The data is immediately stored off-site using an automated backup system. Also, only an internet connection is needed. Completely eliminating the need for expensive backup equipment and media. And, since the system is automated, manual labor is eliminated.  …Top

How Secure Are Remote Backups?

Very. All files are encrypted using 128-bit encryption. The files can only be decrypted by the end-user who has a decryption utility capable of decrypting all the files in one quick operation. And, files are encrypted BEFORE they leave your office, not just when they reach the server. That means complete security during the upload, complete security in storage on the web server, and complete security when you need to download them back to your computer.  …Top

What is encryption?

Encryption is basically a mathematical formula that scrambles a data file. And the only way to unscramble it is with the decryption utility.  …Top
